Match Report

Falkirk. Ren Selway brought to a halt Aberdeen's opening attack. Joe Harper latched to on a long clearance, rounded Stewart and made tracks for goal. He was all set to shoot when Selway whipped the ball from his foot.

Facing a hefty wind, Dundee found it difficult to keep the Dons at bay. but the Dark Blues defenders refused t to panic and a Hamilton header was the only effort that tested Donaldson.

Gradually Dundee mounted an attack or two but failed to take ad vantage. Their best effort came when Alec Bryce resisted a couple of tackles, passed to John Duncan, whose shot was blocked. The ball broke to Bryce, who hit it first time-but the ball went straight to Bobby Clark.

In the 32nd minute Aberdeen tock the lead. George Buchan did the spadework, swerving past two de fenders before he sent over a perfect pass to Harper. Joe's header left Donaldson vainly attempting to clear.

Eleven minutes later, just on half time, Aberdeen secred again a header from Hamilton doing the trick this time.

Dundee went on to the attack on the restart and Clark had to pull out his best to hold a Duncan header. Then Jimmy Wilson left two Dons standing but his 30-yard shor lacked venom. venom

A corner from Jimmy, helped by the strong wind, gave Clark a lot of bother betore the danger was cleared. Then the keeper did well to hold a Scott special.

Dundee were well on top, but a packed Aberdeen defensive area made z break-through difficult.

Fourteen minutes from the end, however, Dundee got a well-deserved goal. Scott, on a typical run, beat. one defender after another before being tackled and brought to a halt. The hall broke to John Duncan, who hit it high into the net.

Apart from a sporadic Aberdeen raid it was an all-out Dundee attack in the remaining time. The Dons defence, however, was equal to the task.
