Manager's Programme Notes

First I would like to begin by paying tribute to the while of the Dundee support which gave us such a tremendous backing for the whole 120 minutes of last Sunday's B&Q Cup Final.

That backing and the sale of our entire allocation of tickets for the match with Airdrie prove that the support for a successful Dundee Football Club is out there. Unfortunately, the result didn't go but have that the our way, but I hope that those who went along last Sunday and don't watch us every week will be persuaded to come along more regularly after seeing that the players are totally committed to the cause at Dens Park.

I felt that we gave 100%, but on the regrettably, on the day, one or two didn't perform at their best, but that unfortunately is but that something you have to accept in football. On the other side of the coin. a couple of others gave outstanding performances. One was Gerry Britton. His all round play was exceptional, capped by scoring the goal which took the tie into extra-time.

At the end the players were particularly disappointed at not winning the cup for the supporters, but they were heartened by the reaction from reaction from the stands and now all thoughts concentrated on our number one priority this season - PROMOTION.

Our last league game against against St Johnstone provided a very satisfactory result. Over the past few seasons, we have found this a very difficult fixture and they are always closely contested games and without ever looking like losing, we earned three very valuable points in what as he always knew was going to be a very tight league and that is why a further three points is so important as we welcome Clydebank this afternoon.
