Match Report

A sensational winner two minutes from time from Javier Artero ended a run of five straight defeats for Dundee.

This thrilling game seemed to be fading out to an acceptable draw, when Gary Bollan lost possession to Artero 20 yards out. The midfielder strode into the Saints box and planted a low, right foot shot past Alan Main.

And, to complete Bollan's afternoon, he was sent off in the final minute forbarguing the toss, after he had been booked in the opening half. It was a victory Dundee just about deserved after they turned a dreadful first-half performance into a thrilling show after the interval.

Saints will be regretting errors that led to the conceding of two bad goals after appearing to have the game won.

Momo Sylla cleared straight to Gavin Rae, who equalised for the visitors as Dundee clawed their way back into the game. Alan Kernaghan then blundered and presented Juan Sara with their second.

And, once again, the Perth side failed to take advantage of a situation where they took the lead, but failed to find the crucial second goal.

Bollan's afternoon started magnificently when he drilled a low, left-foot shot past Marco Roccati from 25 yards, after Paul Kane had rolled a short free-kick to him.

Dundee were level 12 minutes into the second half when Sylla's sloppy clearance went straight to Rae, and his ferocious left-foot shot soared high into the top corner past the stranded Main.

Eleven minutes later, it was Kernaghan's turn when his attempted clearance sliced from his boot to Sara, and the Argentinian had no difficulty in sliding the ball home from eight yards.

Saints pulled themselves level with 12 minutes left when de Marchi pulled down Hartley as he raced on to Kane's through ball, and the former Hibs and Aberdeen man levelled from the spot. It seemed as if the clubs were happy to share the points, especially when Caniggia was far too casual seven minutes from time when he tried to roll the ball past Main from eight yards, allowing the Saints keeper to save.

But Dundee persisted and Artero got his reward for refusing to settle for a point before Bollan was red-carded in the final two dramatic minutes.

In addition to Bollan's banishment, Sylla and McCluskey received yellow cards for the home team, while Dundee's Coyne and de Marchi were also booked.

Man of the Match GAVIN RAE. The young Scot capped a superb day's work with a spectacular goal.
