Match Report

This tie more than lived up its pre-match build-up as First Division pace setters Partick Thistle gave the more fancied and flamboyant SPL outfit a run for their money.

Thistle showed no signs of an inferiority complex as they more than matched Dundee man for man.

Lennon and Dolan's experience held the midfield well, while McLean and Constantine looked up for the occasion. Thistle's attacking full-back Alan Archibald was overlapping well and got a few good crosses in early on.

Fabian Caballero stood out for the visitors and looked to have created a goal in the 13th minute, but his final pass let him down.

Thistle continued to play their own game and, with Lennon pushing forward, they looked capable of breaking the deadlock.

In a competitive first half, the Jags had the edge and looked to have scored when McLean, on the touchline, passed to Hardie, who's tremendous shot was tipped over the bar by Dundee keeper Speroni,

Thistle still looked more likely to score after the restart and a fine cross by Constantine found Hardie, who headed on to McLean to head home from close range.

Thistle then committed the cardinal sin of losing concentration just after taking the lead and Kiko Torres crashed home an amazing equaliser from 30 yards.

The home side lived dangerously for a period and had Stephen craigan to thank for intercepting Kemas, who was about to go clean through on the keeper.

John Lambie then brought on Britton and Walker and, again. they went at the Dundee rearguard, who were fortunate one or twice not to concede another goal.

Former Dens hit-man Britton looked as if he had struck, but his shot hit the woodwork, leaving Dundee to fight another day.

Although not a dirty game, there were three bookings in all, Fleming and Dolan for Thistle and Dundee's goalscorer Torres.
