Biography

Josh Mulligan came through the youth system at Dundee, and made his debut for the club as a substitute against St Mirren in the final game of the 2018/2019 season.

The midfielder made a further three appearances during the League Cup group stage, before heading out on loan to Cove Rangers.

Although the season was ended early due to the COVID pandemic, Josh made eight appearances for Cove as they were declared League Two Champions.

Josh recently signed a contract extension on the 6th October 2020 to keep him at Dens until 2023 and moved on loan to Peterhead for the 2020/2021 season the same day.

For the 2021/2020 season the midfielder joined Peterhead again on a season long loan but Dundee would cut this short and recall the player in January 2022 after a successful first half to the season.

His fist start for the club since his recall was in a 1-0 away win at Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup and he would also start a few months later in a 2-1 away win at Hearts to give the team a massive boost in their relegation fight.

With James McPake sacked after that win, Mulligan spent most of his time on the bench under Mark McGhee but he did score his fist goal for Dundee in a 3-1 home win over Hibs, that gave the club a small lifeline for staying up that season.

The following season under new manager Gary Bowyer, Mulligan would feature massively for Dundee as they went on to clinch the Championship title. After playing on the wing and midfield early on, Mulligan would resort to playing in the right-back position.

One notable highlight from that season was his wonderful solo goal in a 4-2 victory over Arbroath at Dens Park in front of the BBC cameras on the 12th August 2022.

Mulligan penned a new two-year deal in the summer to keep him at the club until 2025.

For the next two seasons, Mulligan would continue to impress for Dundee and would firmly win his place in the team in the 2024/25 season.

Despite the clubs poor performance on the league, Mulligan put in quite a few eye catching performances which included his trademark runs into the box.

Unfortunately, Josh would reject Dundee's offer of a new contract and would love to Hibernian in the summer of 2025.
